Neil Patrick Harris is an American actor, producer, director, magician, comedian and singer. He is best known for playing Barney Stinson in the television comedy seriesHow I Met Your Mother(2005–2014), for which he was nominated for four Emmy Awards. As a child star he played the title character inDoogie Howser, M.D.(1989–1993). He is also known for his role as the title character in Joss Whedon's musicalDr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog(2008) and a fictional version of himself in theHarold & Kumarfilm series (2004–2011). He has also appeared in the filmsStarship Troopers(1997),Beastly(2011),The Smurfs(2011),The Smurfs 2(2013) andGone Girl(2014).
