E. Renan (1823-1892), French philosophers, philologist and historian evaluates Afghani’s personality and scholarship in these words: “The freedom of his thought, his noble and loyal character, gave me the impression, while talking to him that I had before me, restored to life, one of my old acquaintances - such as Avicenna (Ibn-i Sina) or Averroes (Ibn-i Rushd) or another of those great unbelievers who, for five centuries, upheld the tradition of the human mind” In this book, an attempt has been made for a mélange of western and eastern scholarship, as the eastern sources have either been totally unknown to western scholars and the vice versa. It Is basically meant to be companionable to the readers, scholars and lovers of Afghani.
