Professor Dr. G. Hussein Rassool is Professor of Islamic Psychology && Consultant, Riphah Institute of Clinical and Professional Psychology/ Centre for Islamic Psychology. He is also the Director of Studies, Department of Islamic Psychology, Psychotherapy && Counselling, Al Balagh Academy. Chair of Al Balagh Institute of Islamic Psychology Research. He was formerly the Dean for the Faculty of Liberal Arts && Sciences. Head of the Department of Psychology and Professor of Islamic Psychology. He is a Fellow of the International Association of Islamic Psychology. Academic Advisor to the South African Institute of Islmic Psychology and Well-Being.
Professor Dr. G. Hussein Rassool holds a Ph.D. in Psychology and Education (University of London), M.Sc. in Health Education, and a B.A. in Psychology. He is an academic advisor, independent consultant in Islamic psychology, addiction and mental health, and Clinical consultant/ Executive director Islamic Online Counselling Service. He also works part-time as an Islamic psychotherapist. Professor Dr. G.Hussein Rassool has been a visiting professor of psychology of addiction and mental health at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. His previous experience was as a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Addictive Behaviour && Psychological Medicine, St George s Hospital Medical School (University of London), England where he developed many unique academic programmes. He has also worked for the National Addiction Centre (Maudsley Drug Training Unit), Maudsley Hospital London, UK. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health and served as News Editor/Editorial Board Member of international journals in the UK, USA and Brazil. He has over 40 years of experience in psychology, mental health, addiction behaviours and substance misuse fields with relevant national and international experience as a clinical, educational and academic consultant. He served as a consultant on continuing professional development in various countries including United Kingdom, Mauritius, Malta, HongKong and Brazil. He is the recipient of the Florence Nightingale Foundation Scholar.
Professor Rassool is author a number of books on addiction, dual diagnosis and has published many papers and reviews on alcohol and drug misuse.
