About the Author

Nain Sukh is the pen name of Khalid Mahmood, a practising lawyer, an activist for justice, a poet, and a prodigious writer in Punjabi. He has a keen eye for crafting his prose within a broad and well researched historical and social anthropological context.

Nain Sukh has published eight critically acclaimed books. His debut poetry collection ‘Kikar Tay Angoor’ was published in 1994. His first book of short stories ‘Theekeryaan’ was published in 2005 followed by ‘Uthal Puthal’ in 2011. The culturally rich and expansive novel ‘Madho Lal Hussain: Lahore Di Vel’ was warmly received by readers in 2014. ‘Jogi, Sap, Trah’ written in the Shahmukhi script is a crowning achievement exploring the trepidation and hope of the ordinary people in the passing of the old and the emergence of the new Punjab.

Nain Sukh was the 2015 winner of the Dhahan Prize Finalist Award and Pakistan’s prestigious Masud Khadarposh Award for Madho Lal Hussain: Lahore Di Vel.
