A monograph on the leading British architectural practice Hopkins Architects, whose buildings combine innovative design, craft, and environmental responsibility. Established in 1976, the British practice Hopkins Architects has been at the forefront of international architecture, most recently they completed the design and construction of the Velopark for the London 2012 Olympic Games, shortlisted for this year's Stirling Prize. This volume profiles projects that have been designed and built since 2001. A wide range of building types are featured that range from The Evelina Children's Hospital in London to a new Cricket Centre in Pune for the Maharashtra Cricket Association, including the Manchester Art Gallery, the Lawn Tennis Association's National Tennis Centre, the Frick Chemistry Laboratory at Princeton University and the Kroon Hall School of Forestry and Environmental Studies at Yale University. Each project is positioned within the context of past works and inspirations. An in-depth analysis explores the genesis and legacy of each project, while brief thematic texts draw connections between projects.
