During the World War II, four siblings - Peter, Susan, Edmond and Lucy - are evacuated from London to English countryside. There, they discover in Professor Digory Kirke s house a wardrobe stepping through which they reach Narnia, a magical world frequ ently inhabited by mythical beasts and talking animals. Unfortunately, an evil witch rules Narnia who has forced it into a state of eternal winter. With the help of Aslan, a talking lion, the siblings defeat the witch and then the Golden Age of Narnia begins.

A classic of children s fantasy literature, "The Chronicles of Narnia" is a series of seven stand-alone books. It is one of the most popular children series ever written. It has been translated in more than 40 languages and sold over 100 million copies around the world.

About the Author

C. S. Lewis (Clive Staples Lewis) was born in Belfast, Ireland, in 1898. He was a prolific writer and wrote more than 30 books on subjects both scholarly and fictional. He wrote fiction for both adults and children which includes very popular The Space Trilogy for adults and The Chronicles of Narnia for children. He died in 1963.
