Kahlil Gibran and May Ziadah knew one another solely from the letters they exchanged and from a deep admiration for each other's work. Yet their correspondence endured a lifetime, as did their love. This collection of letters, the first ever to appear in English, reveals the eloquence and beauty of Gibran's writing in a form and style that is both profoundly personal and emotionally evocative. Illustrated throughout with Gibran's ink sketches and fascinating photographs of his original letters, this exquisite gift edition presents a moving insight into the writer behind The Prophet, the bestselling book of the twentieth century.

KHALIL GIBRAN was a Lebanese American writer, poet and artist. Born to Catholic parents in Bsharri, Lebanon in 1883, he migrated with his family to the USA at an early age where he studied art and started pursuing a literary career. He wrote both in Arabic and English languages and owing to the tremendous success of The Prophet, he soon became famous all over the world. As a writer and poet, Gibran composed many volumes of prose poetry which deal mostly with spiritual love. As an artist, he made over 700 images including the portraits of his friends WB Yeats, Carl Jung and August Rodin. Gibran died in New York on April 10, 1931.
