This book explores the rise and establishment of the Mongol Empire under Chinggis Khan, as well as its expansion and evolution under his successors. It also examines the successor states (Ilkhanate, Chaghatayid Khanate, the Jochid Ulus (Golden Horde), and the Yuan Empire) from the dissolution of the empire in 1260 to the end of each state.
About the Author
(Ph.D., University of Wisconsin-Madison) is Professor of CentralEurasian History at the University of North Georgia and serves as Associate Deanof Arts & Letters. A scholar of the Mongol Empire, he focuses on Mongol militaryhistory and strategy. He is the author of The Mongol Art of War (2007), The MongolConquests in World History (2012), The Mongol Empire (2018), The Mongols(2019), and Simply Chinggis (2021). In 2014, he was named the University of NorthGeorgia Alumni Distinguished Professor, and he earned the UNG DistinguishedTeaching Award in 2021.
