The illustrations by John Batten are taken from the first edition.

Ever since I was a little girl, I ve been drawn to folklore and fairytales. I used to beg my grandmother to tell me ancient stories passed down through generations. I would get lost in worlds of mythic creatures, epic quests, and magical lands. This childhood fascination grew into a calling to preserve these timeless narratives.
