About the Author

Dr. Burton Dewitt Watson(Ph.D., Columbia University, 1956) was a Professor of Chinese at Columbia and Stanford Universities. Among his many awards is the PEN/Ralph Manheim Medal for Translation for his long and prolific career in Chinese, Japanese, and English languages.
