About the Author

Debra Lynn Dadd brings over twenty years of research and real-life experience to her work as a consumer advocate for health and the environment.With her books A Consumer Guide for the Chemically-Sensitve (self-published 1982), Nontoxic & Natural (Tarcher, 1984) and The Nontoxic Home (Tarcher 1986), Debra was the first to alert consumers to the toxic chemicals present in everyday household products and reveal both the short- and long-term health effects, as well as safe alternatives. She was the first to catalog nontoxic products, making them easily accessible to everyone.Debra was also ahead of her time with her concern about the environmental effects of consumer products. She began writing on the subject in 1989 and was ready with her book Nontoxic, Natural and Earthwise when consumer interest exploded after Earth Day 1990.
